William (Bill) L. Hallisey, Partner, joined SOIL Funds in December 2018. He assists with thesis development, origination, and diligence.
He previously co-founded NewWorld Capital where he was a director of Astrum Solar, a NewWorld portfolio company that was sold in July 2014, and SolarEdge Technologies, a NewWorld portfolio company that went public in March 2015. He is currently a director of Aquam Holdings. Before NewWorld, he was a Managing Director at GSC Group, a private equity firm, where he focused on private equity deal origination, mezzanine/BDC opportunities and SPAC investments. Mr. Hallisey sourced transactions in energy, clean-tech, renewable fuels, waste management, agriculture, infrastructure, and business services.
Prior to GSC, Mr. Hallisey managed private equity investments for Berggruen Holdings, a private-equity firm committed to theme investing in resource scarcity. During his tenure, Berggruen invested in the energy, technology, business services and manufacturing sectors. Previously, Mr.Hallisey was a senior executive in the asset management and investment banking areas of ING Capital, with responsibility for managing private equity and institutional capital. Earlier, he originated and executed transactions for General Electric Capital and managed units in asset management, life insurance, leasing and principal investments for Xerox Financial Services.
Mr. Hallisey has broad experience in evaluating and executing private equity and public investments, including responsibility for financial, management, and regulatory matters. He also has experience in building businesses as an operator in the financial service sectors and as a board member and advisor for portfolio companies. He was the business manager for ING Capital, responsible for the integration of strategy and operations in the Americas after the acquisition of Furman Selz and was on the management and operating committees at ING Direct.
Bill Hallisey graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Economics and Political Science and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
